Our Hitachi wand broke, and we went shopping for a replacement. We were just going to get another Hitachi, but then we stumbled across the Thunderstick. The power of the Thunderstick seems on par with the Hitachi, and the Thunderstick has a longer power cord, so we aren't quite as bound to our outlet. Also, it seems all our Hitachi accessories work with it, although I don't know if this is intentional or not. If you are looking for a wand, the Thunderstick is a really solid choice.
