Guide to Self Bondage

Become your own escape artist...

Self-Bondage is a high art that lets a person place themselves in a bondage scene.

Because self-bondage doesn't require a partner, a person who engages in this style must be extra careful when going in and coming out.  Some of the distinct characteristics of self-bondage include:

  • Increased elements of risk
  • Reliable release mechanisms (once you're in you should be able to get out)
  • Special techniques to place oneself in a bondage scene

Please Note: Practitioners of self-bondage recommend that one doesn't use autoerotic asphyxia or other such methods when engaging in self-bondage. Using such methods may cause harm. They also recommend that self-bondage users have someone close by in case of emergency. There are other guidelines one should consider including:

  • Using multiple releases as a backup, in case one fails
  • Not allowing limbs to go numb or stop blood circulation
  • Not impairing judgment through substances such as alcohol
  • Understanding one's limits. Start off slowly and then gradually build
  • Making sure there's nothing in the area that could be of a danger to you

When done properly, carefully and safely, self-bondage can be a sensual and pleasing form of sexual play. This method opens up new avenues for users, as they don't need to have a partner present to offer themselves the pleasure that bondage can provide.
